About Rev. April
Rev. April was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas, and graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication & Media in 2000. She moved to Austin to pursue a career in marketing and public relations when she first encountered homeless arts charity Art From the Streets, about which she assisted in the production of the award-winning eponymous documentary by Layton Blaylock in 2004. April moved to Seattle later that year, where she embarked in a years-long performing arts career with various groups as a songwriter & vocalist. Returning to Austin in 2009, she opened her very own textiles boutique retail concept Fabricker, later spinning it off as a cooperative with other local fabric merchants, and helped launch a city initiative to fund a local fashion incubator with an ad hoc guild of garment makers and manufacturers she organized. April consulted for years in local business development, while serving in many leadership capacities with a variety of charity organizations beloved to her heart. Once again, she assisted Blaylock in development and production of Community First, A Home for the Homeless, which premiered in the SXSW Official Showcase in 2019. That same year, she wrote and produced Breakfast at Joe’s as her award-winning debut stage production, and emigrated to Ireland several months later. She was ordained in 2022 with OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation, and was accepted as a European Excellence Award Scholar to Trinity College Dublin to earn her Master’s Degree in International Peace Studies in 2025, graduating First Class with Honours and Distinction. April currently lives in the Knockmealdown Mountains in southeastern Ireland, where she offers pastoral counseling, conducts peace workshops, and produces media on creativity and spiritual development.
